Atkins Reviews

Atkins Reviews

Here is our review of the Atkins Diet, please feel free to add your own Atkins reviews below.
The original Atkins diet was released in the 1970s by Dr. Robert Atkins. This original diet claimed you could eat any proteins and fat, while almost eliminating carbohydrates and become thin. In this original plan, many health professionals were not supportive as they did not agree with the endorsement of fatty and cholesterol foods.
While doing our Atkins reviews, we found that the Atkins diet has now been modified to address those initial concerns.
In the New Atkins diet there are 4 main changes;
1. Stresses the importance of healthy type fats
2. More focused on nutrition from fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins
3. Flexible to appeal with people with busy lifestyles
4. More emphasis on control of the portions and counting your calories.
However the main thrust is still a low carb diet that forces your body into ketosis,
where the fat is burned for energy. In the initial diet plan as mentioned above, it
endorsed the use of saturated fat, which has been linked with many healthproblems.
While doing this Atkins Review, we found that the latest version advises you to limit your saturated fats and eat healthy fats.
Atkins has also increased their online diet program, and still heavily promotes
the use of their processed food line consisting of bars and shakes.
You can incorporate the bars and shakes but will still need to prepare
your own meals.
There are 4 phases to the plan:
Induction- You can eat three regular meals or four-five smaller meals.
It breaks down the amount of protein you need at each meal.
As well as other crucial elements to your success.
Ongoing weight loss (OWL) adds more carbs back into your daily diet.
You weight loss will slow down during this time frame.
Pre-Maintenance- You average 50-70 net carbs daily. So you include
fruits and bread and grains back into your daily caloric intake.
Lifetime Maintenance- 75 Net carbs daily in this final, ongoing phase. You take everything you have learned
about the plan and keep utilizing it to maintain the new weight level you desire.
The new Atkins appears to be very effective and is followed by millions. Check out their site to see their success stories.
They also have Courtney Thorne-Smith as their celebrity spokesperson.
The New Atkins book is available in hard copy and Kindle. They also have nutrition bars and supplements to help ensure your success.
